What Is the Definition of an Asylee?
An asylee is a person who fears persecution or who has suffered persecution in his or her native country (or country of last residence). This is a person who is unable to obtain protection from the persecution from his or her present government.

Employment-Based Visa Categories
In most cases, you must be sponsored by an employer to obtain an employment-based immigrant visa, or EB visa. Every year approximately 140,000 of these visas are provided by the U.S. government for qualified applicants. These visas are divided into five main categories according to preference. In many cases, spouses and minor children may be allowed to accompany or join the accepted applicant.

- EB-1: Priority workers, such as persons of extraordinary ability, outstanding researchers and professors, and multinational executives

- EB-3: Skilled workers, professionals, and other (unskilled) workers filling non-seasonable occupations

- EB-5: Immigrant investors will to invest a minimum capital of $900,000 into an enterprise that provides jobs in this country
These categories are filled in chronological order until the annual limit has been reached, at which point a backlog will occur. Once your visa application is approved, it will be sent to the National Visa Center for further processing.

What to Do After Receiving Your Green Card
fter you are approved for your green card, it is important to know that you can use your card for readmission to the country after a trip abroad that is shorter than one year. If you are abroad for longer than a year, you will need a reentry permit.
Additionally, as a lawful permanent resident, you will need to renew your card after ten years. You will also need to replace your green card if it is lost, damaged, or stolen. For replacing or renewing a green card, lawful permanent residents would file for I-90.
If you have a green card as a conditional permanent resident, you would need to remove your conditions to permanent residency after two years. This involves two different depending on if you arrived in the U.S. for family-based or business-based reasons.
- For family-based immigration situations: You would file Form I-751, or the Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

Both of these must be filed during the 90 day period before the card expires.
Can a Green Card Be Revoked?

The EB-5 Investment Program
